The Third Shahadah in Azaan and Iqamat

1) Recitations in Azan and Iqamat:

Imam Jafar e Sadiq (as) said:

“The Recitations in Azaan and Iqamat are double. The recitations in Azaan are 20 and in Iqamat are 22”

[Al Hidaya (Sheikh Sadooq) Pg: 30, Bihar Al Anwar Vol: 84 Pg: 111, Mustadrak ul Wasail Vol: 1 Pg: 253]

2) Azaan – Name of Imam ALI (ASWS):

Imam Jafar As Sadiq (as) when asked about the verse of Quran “And an announcement from Allah and His Messenger, to the people (assembled) on the day of the Great Pilgrimage” [9:3] said: ... Allah named him (Ali) Azaan from Allah. This (Azaan) is the name that Allah descended from the heaven for Ali (as).

- FUQAHA AND ULAMA AND SHAHADAT-E-SALISA IN AZAAN AND IQAMAT-

1) Faqih-e-AhleBait(as) Muhammad Baqir Waheed Bahbani Hairi:

Whatever I have said proves the presence of Shahadat of Ali-un-Wali-Allah. Because it’s being found in the general Hadees suffices and above this no other Hadees is required. Because it’s said that when you do Muhammad's (saww) Zikr, do Ali's (as) Zikr as well. Hence there is no harm that we include this in Azaan & Iqamat as a JUZ (part).

[Ref: Al-Hidaya Fi Juziyat-ul-Shahadat-e-Wilayat, Pg: 14]

2) Faqih-e-AhleBait(as) Abul Qasim Khoi:

We don’t need any Hadees to prove Ali-un-Wali-Allah in Azaan & Iqamat, because Wilayat is a means for Completion of Risalat & strengthening of Eeman. And Wilayat is 1 of those 5 things which are the basis of Deen. It is a clear sign and means of identification of Shiat.

[Ref: Mustanad Urwat-ul-Wusqa, Vol:2, Pg:288]

3) Faqih-e-AhleBait(as) Abd-un-Nabi Iraqi:

There are more than 10 Authentic Hadees regarding shahadat-e-Salisa. My opinion is that Shahadat-e- Salisa is part of Azaan & Iqamat. The one who says that Ali-un-Wali-Allah is not proven in Azaan and hence is Bid'at & Haraam, Then this is a misunderstanding of a person who does not have knowledge of Fiqh.

[Ref: Al-Hidaya Fi Kaun-un-Shahadat Bil-Wilayah Fil-Aazan & Wal Iqamah Juzi Kasair-ul-Ajzia, Pg:37 & Al Hidaya Fi Juziyat-ul-wilayah, Pg:161]

4) Faqih-e-AhleBait(as) Mirza Aaqa Istehbaani:

Shahadat-e-Salisa is a Juz (part) in Aazan & Iqamat.

[Ref: Sharh Risalat-ul-Huqooq, Vol: 3, Pg:113]

5) Faqih-e-AhleBait(as) Sayed Muhammad Shirazi

Ash-haduanna Ali-an-Wali-Allah is a Juz (Part) of Aazan.

[Ref: Al Fiqh, Vol: 9, Chapter on Aazan]

6) Faqih-e-AhleBait(as) Muhammad Taqi Mamqani:

The Shahadat-e-Wilayat is proven for most of the Historians. Authentic Hadees are there on Shahadat-e-Salisa. Hence taking it to be Juz (part) will not wrong.

[Ref: Sahifat-ul-Abraar, Vol: 2, Pg: 186]

7) Faqih-e-AhleBait(as) Abdur Razzak Muqarram:

Examining the numerous traditions which prove that the Holy Prophet very many times clarified that the Wilayat of his Successor is the completion of the 2 testimonies (Shahadatain), confirms that in the very life of the Prophet Shahadat-e-Salisa after the Shahadatain was there in Azaan etc. Although it was difficult for Prophet Muhammad (saww) to make the open declaration of Wilayat of Ali (as) as obligatory because there were many people who could not accept the Merits of Ali (as). And how could their self’s be satisfied with such an order which was a step in taking away the Successor ship from other than Imam Ali (as).

[Ref: Sirr-ul-Eeman, Pg: 14]

8) Faqih-e-AhleBait(as) Ali Madad Qaini:

After knowing the narration of Imam (as) "Who ever say’s La ilaha Illallah Muhammadur Rasool-ul-lah, he should say Ali-un Ameerul Mumineen Wali-Ullah" it is not difficult to believe that the Imam (as) was indicating that Shahadat-e-Salisa is a Juz (part) of Aazan.

[Ref: Sirr-ul-Eeman, Pg: 56]

9) Faqih-e-AhleBait(as) Ibrahim Istehbati Shirazi Najafi:

Shahadat-e-Salisa is a Juz (part) of Aazan.

[Ref: Risalate Amaliya Zakhiratul Ibaad, Pg: 46]

10) Faqih-e-AhleBait(as) Sayed Husain Tabrizi:

In some narrations there exits the declarations of Wilayat like Sheikh Sadooq has quoted. It becomes evident from the words of Sheikh Sadooq and Sheikh Toosi that it has come in authentic narrations that Wilayat and Risalat are into one another and that the names of Prophet (saww) and Amir-ul-Mumineen (as) are always taken together.

[Ref: Qawaid-ud-Deen Pg: 227]

11) Faqih-e-AhleBait(as) Muhammad Taqi Majlisi

It’s possible that this (Shahadat-e-Salisa) would be a Juz (part) if there had been no Taqayya.

[Ref: Rauzat-ul-Muttaqeen, Vol: 2, Pg: 246]

12) Faqih-e-AhleBait(as) Sheikh Muhammad Raza Najafi:

Shahadat-e-Salisa not being a Juz (part) of Aazan is due to Taqayya.
